Brief Description

The concept of Asean journalists covering the biggest cultural event is to offer an opportunity for Asean journalists who are from different cultural backgrounds to share and exchange their experiences and skills on reporting cultural festivals, as well to gain more knowledge about distinct culture and customs of Laos. This will in turn help to promote tourism, while preserving and protecting the variety of traditions and cultures of Asean as a whole Moreover, before covering the religious festival these journalists will share their knowledge through a seminar where each country will give a presentation about the biggest and the most important festival in the respective country and exchange their own traditions and culture with colleagues.  These journalists will share the country’s media ethics, bans, dos and don’ts and taboos, which will inform Asean journalists at the seminar. This information can be taken into account when they write stories to publish in print and via electronic media outlets of respective countries. These stories will help their readers and people gain a deep understanding about Laos, as well as Asean culture as a whole, and this will be a step forward for strengthening Asean people joining as one community in 2015
